Historic Honor for Dr. Khem Singh Gill
Abbotsford, BC: The Khalsa Diwan Society Abbotsford, known for its Historic Heritage Gurdwara, recently honored Dr. Khem Singh Gill, Vice President of The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib, and former Vice Chancellor of Punjab Agricultural University (PAU), for his remarkable services to the Sikh community.
A Tribute to Sikh Pioneers
During his visit, Dr. Gill paid tribute to the Sikh pioneers in the presence of prominent community leaders, including MP Jati Sidhu, City Councilor Moe Gill, Prof. Gurvinder Singh Dhaliwal, and Bhai Sarwan Singh. Past and present presidents of the Khalsa Diwan Society and its executive committee members also graced the occasion.
Historic Connections and Contributions
Dr. Gill recorded his message in the visitor’s book, reflecting on the profound legacy of the society. An article titled “Mystery and Powers of Teja Singh” from The Province newspaper (dated December 12, 1912) was also showcased in the historical museum. The society, along with The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib, was established by Principal Sant Teja Singh in 1911.
Legacy of Dedication
Shiromani Panth Rattan Baba Iqbal Singh and Dr. Gill, both early disciples of Principal Sant Teja Singh, have dedicated their lives to serving humanity. Their inspiration stems from their profound meeting with Sant Teja Singh in 1949 at Khalsa College, Amritsar, India.
