From Chandigarh to KPMG – A Journey of Growth
I’m Kabir Nanda, originally from Chandigarh, and currently working as a Financial Consultant with KPMG in the IT advisory sector. My role involves managing company audits, and my journey to this point has been shaped by several key experiences. After completing my 12th grade in 2009 from Baru Sahib with an impressive 85%, I pursued an Engineering degree in Computer Science from Chitkara University in Badi.
A Family Rooted in Education and Writing
My father runs a computer education business and a publishing house, while my mother contributes to the family business through her writing. Ever since I was in the 5th grade, my father frequently visited Baru Sahib for book promotions. It was during these visits that I developed a strong desire to attend Akal Academy for my schooling. However, due to logistical challenges, it wasn’t until 9th grade that I was able to fulfill this dream.
A Transformative Experience at Akal Academy
My time at Baru Sahib was nothing short of transformative. The distraction-free environment fostered focus and discipline, which significantly impacted my academic performance. One of my proudest achievements was scoring a record-breaking 92 in Hindi during my 10th grade board exams, a record that still stands. The difference between my previous schooling in the city and the education I received at Baru Sahib was immense. Everything, from the spiritual atmosphere to the well-structured daily routines, contributed to creating an environment that prioritized quality education.
The No-Pocket-Money Concept – A Blessing in Disguise
\One of the most unique aspects of life at Akal Academy was the “No Pocket-Money” policy, which I know may sound unusual to some. However, for me and many other students, it was a blessing. The policy not only helped us stay focused and disciplined but also instilled a sense of responsibility. We were only allowed to shop once a month during the academy’s organized picnic, with a strict budget. There was no random shopping, which kept us aligned with the academy’s core values.
Addressing Criticisms – A Commitment to Excellence
There are times when the disciplined routine at the academy is criticized, and while I understand differing opinions, I must say that anyone who has been a part of Akal Academy, whether as a student or an alumni, would agree that the experience is unparalleled. The environment created there is one of a kind, and I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking quality education and personal growth. The structure, spirituality, and focus on discipline are qualities that students cherish and continue to carry with them long after they graduate.
Future Aspirations – Work Experience, Higher Studies, and Giving Back
Looking ahead, I plan to pursue my master’s degree abroad after gaining some work experience. Inspired by my time at Baru Sahib, I also aspire to establish an old-age home for neglected parents in the future. With the increasing urbanization and modernization, this issue has become more prevalent, and I believe it’s something that needs attention and care.
Love & Regards,
Kabir Nanda
