Little Simran

In the heart of rural Punjab, in an Akal Academy classroom, little Simran sat with her book open, beads of sweat rolling down her forehead. Every few moments, she would look up at the fan, and wipe the sweat off her forehead as she tried to focus on her lesson. The old fan too, seemed to try it’s best to elevate the students’ discomfort, but looked sympathetically mournful in its inability to offer relief.

There was the sound of some hustle and bustle as electricians entered the room, and the teacher allowed them to replace the old fans with new ones. As the switch was flipped, a cool breeze spread across the room. Simran closed her eyes, feeling the comfort settle over her. The sweat, the exhaustion, the frustration—all faded away in that instant.

The teacher informed that, somewhere, a kind-hearted donor had made this possible.

Hearts of Gratitude

Simran silently thanked the donor in her heart, who had replaced suffering with ease, her struggle with focus, and discomfort with the joy of learning. She knew, many of her classmates would have felt the same, and were expressing gratitude in their hearts.
