A Day Beyond Ordinary
Akal Academy, Baru Sahib, Sunday 20th Oct 2013. It was not just another day at Akal Academy, Baru Sahib. It was a day of oneness, diversity, colourful talents, and inspiring change makers.
The Valley of Divine Peace came alive with flowers in bloom, music in the air, and the laughter of children dressed in vibrant colours. With hearts full of joy, The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib celebrated the 26th Annual Day of its flagship school in Himachal Pradesh with grandeur, togetherness, and divine spirit.
A Symphony of Faith and Talent
The event opened with the arrival of esteemed guests:-
• Mr. S. Sikander Singh Maluka, Education Minister, Govt. of Punjab.
• Mr. Gangu Ram Musafir, Vice Chairman, Planning Commission, Govt. of Himachal Pradesh.
• Respected members of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Committee.
What followed was a soul-stirring blend of Shabad-Kirtan, orchestras, historic skits, and colourful performances. From nursery children to high schoolers, every child found a way to express creativity some performances brought smiles, others tears, while many delivered powerful social messages on unity, child labour, tree plantation, and the fight against drugs.
Honouring Achievers
The Honourable Chief Guest handed prizes to outstanding achievers. Moved by what he witnessed, he said:-
“I am spellbound to see the value-based education being imparted here academic excellence blended with spiritual wisdom. This is the true need of the hour.”
He praised Baba Iqbal Singh Ji for nurturing Akal Academies that are bringing laurels to society through education rooted in both knowledge and values.
Skits That Spoke to the Heart
Children presented beautifully crafted skits on Bhagat Dhruv’s life from Guru Granth Sahib Ji, leaving the audience teary-eyed with their depth and sincerity.
The highlight came with a thrilling performance of Sikh Martial Arts – ‘Gatkha’, which left everyone spellbound at the grace and courage of the young students.
A Divine Conclusion
The event reached its peak with a spiritual address by Baba Iqbal Singh Ji, President of The Kalgidhar Trust and the guiding spirit behind the Rural Education Revolution.
He blessed the gathering with pearls of divine wisdom, appreciating the children’s effort in showcasing Sikhi culture with pride. With hope and conviction, Babaji shared his vision:
“Someday, this path of education and values shall ultimately lead the world to permanent peace.”
A Festival of Inspiration
Set against the backdrop of panoramic mountains and under the clear skies, the Annual Day was more than a celebration it was a living example of unity, culture, and spiritual joy.
It showed how little children, like blossoms in the Valley of Divine Peace, can bloom into responsible, compassionate leaders of tomorrow.
