“Commitment means staying loyal to what you said you were going to do,
long after the mood you said it in has left you.”
In the small village of Shahpur, district Patiala, Punjab, a young boy named Ravinder Singh grew up amidst simplicity and struggle. Born into a modest household, Ravinder’s family faced financial limitations. His father, a hardworking farmer, was the sole breadwinner, while his mother nurtured dreams far bigger than their means dreams of seeing her son rise to become someone respected and remembered.
Alongside them was his younger sister, quietly placing all her hopes and admiration on her brother. Ravinder carried not just the weight of his own aspirations but he carried theirs too.
A New Beginning at Baru Sahib
In 1991, life took a new turn when Ravinder was admitted to Akal Academy, Baru Sahib. For a young boy from a village, this was more than just a school it was a sanctuary of learning, spirituality, and values. Under the serene shadow of the Himalayas, Ravinder’s mind opened up to not just textbooks, but life’s greater lessons – commitment, discipline, and the power of purpose.
Here, a seed was planted a desire to build a life that could bring pride to his family and serve the land he came from.
Choosing the Soil He Knew Best – Agriculture
After completing his 11th grade at Baru Sahib, Ravinder followed his inner calling and enrolled in Mahindra College, Patiala for a B.Sc in Agriculture. For him, agriculture was a passion that is rooted in heritage.
His academic years were filled with discovery and hard work.
He later pursued an M.Sc in Agriculture, sharpening his knowledge and preparing to turn theory into real-world impact.
From Studies to Service – A Journey Through India
Ravinder’s dedication soon bore fruit. He was appointed as an Agriculture Officer in Canara Bank, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh a role that combined finance, fieldwork, and trust.
For over two years, Ravinder worked diligently, learning the nuances of agriculture finance and rural development. His consistent performance caught attention, and soon, he was offered a new role at Axis Bank, in its agriculture division.
Like a sapling that keeps finding the sun, Ravinder kept growing gathering knowledge, building experience, and broadening his impact.
The Takeaway – Commitment Over Circumstances
While many shy away from uncertainty, Ravinder leaned into it. While others feared risk, he stayed committed.
His journey reminds us that:
“It’s not where you start, but how deeply you stay committed to where you want to go.”
From Shahpur’s fields to Chandigarh’s corridors of agriculture leadership, Ravinder Singh’s story is a living lesson for every student that greatness doesn’t require perfect conditions, just persistent effort and unshakable faith.
Presently, with the blessings of Baba ji, he is appointed as a field officer in a agriculture company named ‘Markfed Punjab’ at Chandigarh
Message to Akal Academy Students
