These financial savings translate directly into educational impact.
With the average annual education cost of ₹32,000 per child, the savings generated from this solar plant have the potential to support the schooling of nearly 1,250 children in a single year !
This means that the economic benefit from this clean-energy initiative can empower thousands of young minds, proving that solar power here is not just about reducing bills; it is about creating opportunities, uplifting families, and shaping a brighter future for rural India.
Other Major Environmental Gains with Measurable Impact
The solar plant will prevent 5,850 tonnes of CO₂ emissions over 25 years, equivalent to the environmental benefit of growing 25,000 trees.
By adopting solar energy instead of planting an equivalent number of trees, the Trust also avoids the need for significant ecological resources.
For instance, planting and maintaining 25000 trees would require 16 hectares of land, which is valued more than 3 crore in the Himachal region.
Additionally, sustaining those trees would consume lakhs of litres of water every year. With agricultural water priced at approximately ₹10 per thousand litres, that water alone represents an annual value in lakhs.
By choosing solar, the Trust protects scarce Himalayan land and water resources while still delivering the same environmental benefit and a unique, efficient model for climate-conscious development.
