The Grand Taj Banquet Hall radiated with warmth and gratitude as Akal Academy, Surrey hosted its Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. Over 100 dedicated volunteers gathered under one roof, not for recognition, but for reflection to celebrate a shared mission of service, learning, and upliftment.
Voices of Gratitude and Purpose
Amidst a heartfelt atmosphere, speakers shared stories of transformation, community impact, and the quiet power of consistent Seva. Rina Kaur spoke passionately about Akal Academy’s role in preserving heritage and nurturing the whole child through Punjabi language, Gurbani, and Kirtan classes, along with spiritual Gurmat camps during school holidays.
Nurturing Minds, Enriching Futures
One of the evening’s highlights was the announcement of several new academic initiatives. Akal Academy, Surrey has introduced tutoring services for students from Grades 3 to 10 in subjects like science, math, and language arts all led by BC Certified Public School teachers. Through formative assessments and parental engagement, the Academy aims to build academic excellence with a foundation of personal growth.
More Than Just Academics
Recognizing the importance of holistic development, the Academy is now offering workshops in:-
• Interview and communication skills
• Professional development
• Study strategies and school success techniques
Additionally, specialized prep classes for Punjabi Grade 11 & 12 Challenge Exams are underway, helping students embrace their culture while achieving academic goals.

Dr. Pargat Singh Bhurji, a key speaker of the night, beautifully reminded everyone of the transformative power of Seva and Simran how these pillars not only elevate our spirit but also bring peace and wellness to the mind and body.
