The Impact of the Year 2025 – An Year of Resilience, Service (Seva) and Transformation

Reflecting on a remarkable year of impact, service, and spiritual strength at Baru Sahib.

As we look back on 2025, one reality stands clear — this was a year of extraordinary compassion, community resilience, and transformational impact.
Across rural India, from Punjab’s flood-ravaged villages to classrooms where young minds dare to dream, 2025 was defined by selfless service, healing, empowerment, and deep spiritual grounding.

Rising to the Challenge – Punjab Floods 2025- Rescue, Relief & Rehabilitation

2025 brought with it devastating floods in Punjab, an event that uprooted homes, livelihoods, and hope for thousands.
In response, The Kalgidhar Trust mounted a steadfast relief effort that became a strong dependant pillar of support and humanity.

Relief Operations – By the Numbers

Community support was immense, amplified by frontline volunteers and generous donors:

  • Rescue boats deployed and lives saved across multiple villages
  • Hundreds of homes repaired; several gurdwaras reconstructed
  • Stationery kits and full Education fee concessions for children affected by floods
  • Emergency materials  – tarpaulins, beds, water bottles, farm seeds, relief kits
  • Medical help  –  25+ medical camps serving thousands
  • Animal welfare services  –  veterinary camps, fodder distribution, care for rescued livestock
  • Spiritual care, including evacuating sacred Sri Guru Granth Sahib Saroops during the floods, ensured both physical and emotional strength for communities.

This multi-faceted relief work was powered by nearly 500 dedicated volunteers from Akal University, Eternal University, and Akal Academies.

100 DAYS — 100 HOUSES

One of the most ambitious initiatives was the “100 Days – 100 Houses” project, or Akal Relief Homes,  a testament to speed, dignity, and compassion.
“100 houses in 100 days” – An ambitious target, indeed! Using pre-fabricated construction technology, homes (500–1,000 sq. ft.) were completed within 24 hours, restoring shelter and stability to families who lost everything.

The Power of Collective Action by Celebrities and Corporates

The scale and speed of Punjab flood relief in 2025 was enhanced through powerful collaborations between civil society, corporates, and public figures. Leading organizations such as Amazon, along with several well-known celebrities and philanthropists, came forward to support the Kalgidhar Society’s on-ground relief and rehabilitation efforts. From funding emergency supplies and prefabricated homes to amplifying the cause across platforms, these partnerships demonstrated how corporate social responsibility (CSR) and public influence can come together to create real, measurable impact during times of crisis.

Cultural & Spiritual Milestones

Beyond service, 2025 was a year of spiritual celebration and cultural unity.

Grand Nagar Kirtan –  A Commemoration of Faith

In November, thousands walked together in a grand Nagar Kirtan spanning from Gurdwara Baru Sahib to Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, marking the 350th Shaheedi Centenary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and Gurta Gaddi Diwas of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

Unifying Spirit –  “Seva: The Anthem”

Amid adversity, music became a powerful expression of resilience. The anthem Seva, by Kanwar Grewal and IKK Soch, celebrated the timeless Punjabi values of seva, pyar (love), insaniyat (humanity) , and praises for those who stood steadfast in service during crisis.

A Vision Anchored in Service & Spirituality

At its core, 2025 reaffirmed the values that define The Kalgidhar Trust’s journey  –  service rooted in compassion, education fueled by dignity, and faith that lifts communities. Throughout the year, spiritual support at Gurudwara Baru Sahib continued with recitations of Sri Sehaj Path Sahib and daily prayers for Punjab’s wellbeing,  reinforcing that every act of service starts with the spirit.

Looking Forward

As we bid farewell to 2025, we carry forward profound lessons,  that in every challenge lies an opportunity to serve, uplift, and transform.
From resilient communities rebuilt after disaster, to students who now reach unprecedented heights, this year has been a living testament to the values of seva (selfless service), shabad (sacred word), and shakti (strength).

Here’s to building on this momentum  –  to deeper impact, broader reach, and an unshakeable resolve to serve humanity with grace.
