Voices of Knowledge – Young Orators Shine at Newspaper Reading Competition

Reading Aloud, Speaking Proud

On March 25, 2017, the vibrant corridors of Akal Academy Gomtipul echoed with clarity, confidence, and curiosity as students from Classes V to X took center stage in an inter-class Newspaper Reading Competition. The event was about voice, vision, and vocabulary.
Designed to encourage fluent reading and thoughtful engagement with current affairs, the competition aimed to build critical communication skills that shape informed, articulate citizens of tomorrow.

Two Categories, One Purpose

The competition was divided into two categories for maximum participation and age-appropriate evaluation:
• Group A – Classes V to VII
• Group B – Classes VIII to X
Renowned faculty members Mr. Mukul Aggrawal and Mr. Vinod Kumar served as judges, bringing their sharp ears and supportive feedback to help students grow.
Participants were evaluated on four key aspects:
Pronunciation
✔ Intonation
✔ Clarity
✔ Voice Articulation
In a closely contested event filled with confident voices and compelling delivery, several students stood out:-
Group A Winners:-
Jaskirat Singh (Class VII) – 2nd Position
Amanpreet Kaur (Class VA) – 3rd Position
Group B Winners:-
Anushka Mishra – 1st and 2nd Position (Outstanding Performance!)
Manpreet Kaur (Class IX) – 3rd Position
Their performances were marked by confidence, clarity, and impressive command over language proving that reading aloud is both an art and a skill.

Words of Wisdom from the Principal

The event concluded with encouraging words from the Principal, who praised all the participants for their efforts and enthusiasm. He reminded students that “Reading the newspaper regularly not only sharpens pronunciation but broadens one’s outlook, enriches thought, and builds a powerful vocabulary. In today’s world, being informed is the first step to becoming a leader.”
Heads of Language Departments and teachers from across grades were present, showing full support and admiration for the young talents.
