A Special Birthday Surprise
On the eve of his 19th birthday, Tarandeep Singh from Baramulla received the best gift—he topped Kashmir in JEE Advanced 2017, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 872.
From Baramulla to IIT Dream
Hailing from Kanispora, a small town on the outskirts of Baramulla, Tarandeep’s journey was not pre-planned. Inspired by seniors from St. Joseph’s School, he pursued IIT coaching in Kota after Class X, dedicating himself fully to his goal.
A Family’s Support & Hard Work
His parents, Tejinder Singh and Arvinder Kaur, stood by him through two years of rigorous preparation. With late-night studies until 3 AM and early morning revisions, Tarandeep’s discipline led to success.
A Rare Feat for Kashmir
Only three students from Kashmir made it to the JEE Advanced merit list in 2017, highlighting the significance of Tarandeep’s achievement. He hopes to join IIT Kharagpur, Kanpur, or Delhi for mechanical or electrical engineering.
Kashmir Super-40 Initiative
The Army’s ‘Kashmir Super-40’ coaching program also saw success, with nine students clearing JEE Advanced. This initiative provides free coaching to underprivileged students, helping them secure a future in engineering.
