When December Becomes a Month of Remembrance
As the year drew to a close, Akal Academy Gomtipul joined the global Sikh community in solemn remembrance of the unparalleled sacrifice made by Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s Sahibzaade the brave sons who became eternal symbols of courage, faith, and martyrdom.
To pay heartfelt tribute, two commemorative programs were held:-
23rd December 2015 – In honor of the Wadde Sahibzaade, Sahibzaada Ajit Singh Ji & Sahibzaada Jujhar Singh Ji.
28th December 2015 – In remembrance of the Chotte Sahibzaade, Sahibzaada Zorawar Singh Ji & Sahibzaada Fateh Singh Ji.
Shabads, Poems & Kavishri – Echoes of Sacrifice and Strength
The ceremonies began with soulful recitations of holy hymns and religious poems at Shri Darbaar Sahib, turning the campus into a spiritual sanctuary. Students and teachers alike were immersed in remembrance, reflecting on the unshakable faith and unwavering bravery of the Sahibzaade.
Highlights from the Programme:-
• Kavishri by Class VIII A & B boys – Lovepreet Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Satinder Singh, and Gurmukh Singh.
• Poem “Chum chum rakho kalgi Jujhar di” by Class VII A girls
• Hymn “Vela aa gaya de dadiya judai da” by Gurnoor Singh, Navjot Singh & Sahibjot Singh of Class II.
• Shabad “Kiven toure hune Mata Gujri ne laal ji” by Manaspreet Singh (Class III) – a performance that deeply touched every listener.
• Shabad “Watan lambiyan to raasta pahad da” by the girls of the school.
Teaching Courage Through Faith
The Divinity Incharges took this sacred opportunity to enlighten students about the boundless courage, purity, and conviction of the Sahibzaade. They spoke of unflinching faith in the face of terror, reminding students that age is never a barrier to righteousness. The ceremony concluded with the recitation of Anand Sahib, followed by the distribution of Prashad, symbolizing spiritual sweetness and collective unity.
Bringing History to Life – Screening of “Chaar Sahibzaade”
After lunch, students gathered in their respective classrooms for the screening of the animated film “Chaar Sahibzaade”. The purpose is to ignite the pride of Sikh identity and to help young minds visualize the sacrifices that shaped their faith. This cinematic experience brought tears to some eyes, strength to many hearts, and a deeper understanding of Sikh heritage to every soul present.
A Day That Lit the Spirit
Shaheedi Diwas at Akal Academy, Gomtipul was more than a program. It was a spiritual journey. A lesson in valor. A tribute to unbreakable faith.
