Healing Hearts, Serving Humanity – The Spirit of Seva Lives On

57th Free Medical Camp – A Ray of Hope in Bhai Desa

On 10th November 2013, the spirit of sewa once again illuminated Rural Punjab as The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib, in collaboration with the Nishkam Medical Care Society, Patiala, organized its 57th Free Medical Check-Up and Treatment Camp at village Bhai Desa, District Mansa.
The initiative was a heartfelt step in the Trust’s continuous mission to reach the unreached, bringing quality healthcare to the remotest corners of India’s northern villages.

1150 Lives Touched with Compassion

A team of dedicated doctors and healthcare experts from Patiala volunteered their time and expertise to conduct over 1150 free medical check-ups, offering medicines and treatments at no cost to the patients.
For many villagers, this camp wasn’t just about treatment it was about hope, care, and being seen by those who truly care.
“We come here not as doctors, but as servants of humanity,” said Dr. M.R.S. Mehta, one of the key members of the medical team.

A Day of Dignity and Devotion

The camp was inaugurated by Rajya Sabha Member, Sardar Balvinder Singh Bhondadh, who commended the efforts of The Kalgidhar Trust and Akal Academy, Bhai Desa for making healthcare accessible to those who need it most.
Principal Gurjeet Kaur of Akal Academy, Bhai Desa shared that the school takes immense pride in being a part of these sewa-driven initiatives teaching students that true education begins with service.

A Chain of Compassion Continues

This camp followed the successful 56th Free Medical Camp at Akal Academy Rajia, where over 400 patients were treated. The medical team, led by Nishkam Medical Care Society, is also preparing for the next major phase Free Operations and Surgeries to be held on 22nd–24th November at Akal Charitable Hospital, Baru Sahib (Himachal Pradesh).
During the camps, doctors identified patients requiring surgical procedures and have registered them for completely free surgeries and follow-up care ensuring healing continues long after the camp ends.

Lessons Beyond the Classroom

For students of Akal Academies, these camps are more than community projects they are life lessons in empathy, teamwork, and humility. Witnessing doctors, teachers, and volunteers working selflessly teaches them that true greatness lies in service to others.
“Each life healed is a lesson in humanity,” shared one student volunteer with pride.

Be the Change, Heal the World

Every check-up, every smile, and every act of kindness weaves into The Kalgidhar Trust’s mission to nurture a society rooted in compassion, equality, and selfless service (sewa).
You too can be a part of this wave of rural transformation.
Join hands, spread awareness, or contribute to help more villages experience the gift of healing.
Because when we serve others, we heal the world.
