When He is by our side, everything turns right. New avenues open, new strength emerges all we are required to do is praise, worship, and follow His path.
Similar is the story of Balaggan village’s Gurpreet Kaur, whose destiny was carved by none other than Him.
Humble Roots, High Hopes
Born to Gurdev Singh, a penniless farmer in Gurdaspur, Punjab a region often criticized for gender inequality Gurpreet’s early life was steeped in challenges.
Growing up in a society where women’s voices were subdued, her journey toward empowerment is nothing short of a miracle.
Today, she is pursuing the Free Teachers Training Program at the Akal Institute of Rural Women Empowerment (AIRWE), Baru Sahib, under the aegis of The Kalgidhar Trust.
After matriculating from the Punjab Board (PSEB), Gurpreet applied voluntarily and was selected for the program a year ago.
A Zeal for Learning and Growth
Besides preparing for her Class XII exams, Gurpreet has been working diligently to master English reading books, expanding her vocabulary, and developing fluent speech.
She actively participates in knowledge-based games, classroom discussions, and practical activities, drawing lessons from every experience around her.
Her thirst for knowledge is unending, and her inquisitive spirit inspires everyone around her.
She recently scored an impressive 75% in Maths, balancing her academics with her passion for personal development.
From “Angry Young Girl” to Calm and Composed
“I was not too pleasant a personality initially,” Gurpreet admits with a shy smile.
Before joining AIRWE, she was known as the “angry young girl” in her village impulsive, short-tempered, and often argumentative.
But under the spiritual environment of Baru Sahib, she began to transform.
Through prayer, meditation, and faith, she found peace within herself.
From an arrogant first bencher, she became a patient listener, embracing humility and compassion.
Finding Faith, Finding Herself
Gurpreet’s transformation was not just academic it was spiritual.
She realized that God’s grace had shaped her new self, helping her shed anger and embrace calmness.
Her family, amazed at her transformation, now proudly acknowledges the role of Baru Sahib in changing her life.
Today, she walks the path of faith and purpose, inspired to serve others and share the same spiritual strength that changed her own life.
Overcoming Obstacles with Courage
Like every true believer, Gurpreet’s journey wasn’t free of challenges.
At one point, family issues forced her to leave the Institute, pausing her dreams of becoming a teacher.
But faith brought her back stronger and more determined than before.
She returned with a clear goal: to serve humanity through education, ensuring that other rural girls like her find opportunities to transform their lives.

Gurpreet’s story teaches us that every life holds a divine purpose.
Her courage, faith, and perseverance remind us that no dream is too distant when our heart believes and our steps align with God’s will.
