Every year, the PTC Sewa Sanmaan Awards honour those who serve humanity selflessly.
This year, the moment felt emotional, and deeply inspiring. In 2025, when devastating floods swept across Punjab, fear replaced hope in many villages, roads drowned, homes collapsed, families were trapped and then came the sevadaars the unseen warriors of humanity.
Among them stood a pillar of strength Bhai Jagjit Singh Ji Vice President, and the Akal Sewa Team of The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib.
They have been honoured for rescuing people trapped during the Punjab floods. And They have done much much more – not just Rescue and Relief, but all support upto Rehabilitation as well
Disaster Rescue and Relief Operations carried out at a massive scale
The Relief work done by the Akal Seva Team was done at a very large scale –
Since 25 August, when the Floods hit Punjab, The Akal Sewa Teams of Kalgidhar Trust swung into immediate Action, and were at the disaster areas with their boats.
- Disaster Rescue operations Across 75 drowned Villages
- More than 5500 people rescued
- Disaster Control Camps were setup at the Various Akal Academies
( The Trust runs 130 Akal Academies across Punjab and adjoining states) - More than 10,000 Supplies, Food and Relief Kits distributed
- Medical Camps were setup at 11 villages at strategic locations
- Even 280 anumals were medically treated in 7 villages
- Home Appliances Repairs were carried out in 13 villages
- More than 60 Akal Relief Homes have already been built and settled with provisions, and many more are in the works
- Many affected families have been supported by the Trust, including free education for the children
And the noble work continues – it is still far from complete
Seva in Action – A Lesson for All
In classrooms we learn theory, but in moments like these we learn life.
What does this teach us:-

• Courage is stepping forward when others step back.
• Greatness is measured not by titles, but by actions.
• Every person has the power to uplift society.
A Legacy of Light From Baru Sahib
The Kalgidhar Trust has always stood for humility, service, and humanity. Awards like these remind us that values are not taught, they are lived.
And when we, and our students, and the affected ones too, see such role models – they don’t just dream of successful lives, they aspire to meaningful lives.
