A Poetic Tribute to Shaheed Udham Singh – Inspiring Patriotism Through the Power of Verse

“The bullet was mine, but the voice was of a million souls.”
— Shaheed Udham Singh

Remembering the Lionheart of Punjab

In a world where heroes fade and names are forgotten, some continue to echo through generations like thunder. One such fearless soul is Shaheed Udham Singh the revolutionary who lit the fire of justice with his unwavering courage and immortal sacrifice.
To honour his legacy, Akal Academy, Bagha recently organized a moving poetic event, “A Poem for a Patriot,” where students came together to feel the pain, the pride, and the purpose that defined this legendary martyr’s life.

Words That Roared Like Bullets

Students composed and recited original poems and heartfelt verses that captured the spirit of Udham Singh’s sacrifice. With each word, they painted the picture of a young revolutionary who bore the wounds of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre in his heart and carried the resolve to avenge it across oceans.
One of the standout lines read:-
“Na bhoolenge, na jhukenge, na rukenge kabhi,
Udham Singh ka junoon, hai har dil mein abhi.”
These poetic expressions were pledges through performances to remember, to respect, and to live by the ideals of freedom and justice.

Why It Matters for Students

At Akal Academy, Bagha we believe that patriotism isn’t confined to textbooks or national holidays but it breathes in our daily actions, values, and voices. By encouraging students to learn about revolutionaries like Udham Singh through creative outlets like poetry, we inspire a deeper connection to India’s freedom struggle.
This event helped students:-
Understand history beyond dates through emotion and empathy.
Express gratitude creatively and meaningfully.
• Develop public speaking and poetic writing skills.
• Cultivate a strong sense of national pride and responsibility.

A Living Legacy

Shaheed Udham Singh fired a strong message through the bullet into eternity that injustice will not go unchallenged, and courage can outlive death.
Through this poetic tribute, our young minds pledged to carry that flame forward with pens in hand and patriotism in their hearts.
