Breaking the Silence on Cancer
Cancer a word that often stirs fear and helplessness. But at Akal Academy, Kajri Niranjanpur, fear gave way to awareness, and awareness gave way to action. On February 5, 2016, Abhai House led the charge in organizing a powerful Cancer Awareness Programme that enlightened young minds and inspired the school community to take a stand.
Learning to Save Lives – The Programme Begins
Hosted in the School Library Hall, the session began with Abhai House Master, Mr. Vattanpreet Singh, welcoming teachers and students. His opening remarks emphasized the pressing need for education about cancer, its causes, and how proactive knowledge can save lives. Cancer does not always have to be a death sentence. When we educate ourselves, we empower others too.
What Is Cancer?
Biology teacher Ms. Navneet Kaur took center stage next with a detailed, engaging talk. Using charts, diagrams, and real-life case examples, she simplified the complex subject of cancer for the students. From understanding what cancer is, to identifying different types, symptoms, and early warning signs her session was packed with eye-opening facts and life-saving tips.
