It was a crisp, sunny morning on February 8, 2025, at the Annual Sant Samagam at Gurdwara Rakabganj Sahib. The air carried the serene hum of prayers, yet amidst the tranquility, a father’s anguish surfaced. Gurcharan Singh, a white-robed Granthi, approached me with trembling hands and eyes filled with despair.
“Veerji, I don’t want my son, Rehmat, to end up like me—trapped in a life of struggle, earning a mere Rs. 8,000 a month, with no hope.” His wife, Simran Kaur, stepped forward, her voice quivering, “Without a good education, Rehmat will waste away in Vishnu Garden.” Their bright-eyed, mischievous eight-year-old son stood beside them, oblivious to the weight his parents carried in their hearts.
