A Celebration Etched in Spirit & Color
This Annual day was special. The students had left no stone unturned in making this a visual symphony of faith and creativity. On 20th October 2019, the tranquil hills of Baru Sahib came alive as Akal Academy celebrated its 31st Annual Day, but this time, with a grander purpose. The day was dedicated to the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the founder of Sikhism, the harbinger of equality, and the torchbearer of truth.
Marching With Meaning – The Parade That Spoke Volumes
What began as a traditional student parade quickly turned into a visual display of Guru Nanak’s teachings. Students marched in disciplined formations, displaying strength, harmony, and grace, while holding up banners showcasing messages of divine wisdom, unity, and social responsibility.
And the part that made a big impact – A passionate anti-drug rally that accompanied the parade. An urgent appeal from the youth to the youth, advocating for a drug-free future in Punjab. This was an urgent call to action, enough to make a big social difference.
A theatrical performance by the students – Bhumiya Chor’s Journey and spiritual transformation
One of the day’s most unforgettable moments was a theatrical performance that retold the transformation of Bhumiya Chor, a feared thief turned devout follower. The students stepped into history with remarkable emotion and authenticity, bringing to life how Guru Nanak’s compassion and wisdom could change even the darkest hearts.
The Moral of the story? No one is beyond redemption, and everyone can walk the path of righteousness.
Painting the Guru’s Journey (‘Udasis’) – An Art Gallery
Walking through the corridors of the school that day felt like stepping into a sacred art gallery. Students curated an incredible exhibition of paintings, each narrating a piece of Guru Nanak Dev Ji’s ‘Udasis’, his historic travels that spread the message of oneness and equality across continents.
Amazing creative expressions by the kids showcased the soul of a new generation, their artworks portraying the many milestones and smaller stories of The Guru’s Journey..
Where Spiritual values and scientific vision go hand in hand
Interestingly, where the spiritual filled the hearts of the visitors, the scientific filled their minds too. A science exhibition ran alongside the art displays, showcasing student innovations in renewable energy, robotics, and future tech. The aim was to show that spiritual values and scientific vision can go hand in hand when guided by purpose.

Behind this phenomenal event stood the guiding force of Baba Iqbal Singh Ji, whose lifelong dedication to education and spirituality continues to inspire thousands. Under his vision, and the committed leadership of Dr. Davinder Singh, Dr. Neelam Kaur, and the Principal, Akal Academy has become a lighthouse of values, service, and excellence.
