From Rural Daughters to Role Models – How Education Transformed Three Lives from Himachal Pradesh

From Rural Daughters to Role Models – How Education Transformed Three Lives from Himachal Pradesh

In many rural villages of Himachal Pradesh, daughters grow up with dreams that often remain limited by circumstances. Financial constraints, social expectations, and limited access to higher education can become barriers to their growth.

Yet sometimes, one opportunity changes everything.

This is the story of three daughters from small villages who once needed support but today have become pillars of strength for their families and communities.

Their journeys reflect the spirit of Give to Gain — a belief that when society invests in a girl’s education, she multiplies that gift by transforming the lives of others.

The Power of Education at Eternal University

At Eternal University, Baru Sahib, education is more than academic learning. It is about empowering young women with knowledge, confidence, and purpose.

For many girls from rural and economically modest backgrounds, this institution becomes a gateway to a future they once thought impossible.

Archna, Akanksha Thakur, and Pooja Koundal are living examples of how education can break cycles of limitation and create a ripple of positive change.

Archna – From Financial Struggles to Inspiring Students

Archna grew up in a humble household where financial challenges made continuing education difficult. At one point, she was on the verge of leaving her studies.

However, perseverance and the support of education changed her path.

She completed her Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), and remarkably cleared both HPTET and CTET in her first attempt.

Today, Archna teaches Science and Mathematics at Akal Academy Bhadaur. Her dedication has earned her greater responsibilities, and she now teaches higher classes including Biology.

Once a student fighting to continue her education, Archna is now shaping the minds of rural students who look up to her as a role model.

Akanksha Thakur – Guiding the Next Generation

Akanksha Thakur’s journey also began in a modest family from rural Himachal Pradesh. With limited resources but immense determination, she pursued higher education at Eternal University.

After completing her B.Sc. and B.Ed., Akanksha stepped into the field of teaching — a profession that allows her to give back to society.

Today, she teaches Science to students from Classes 6 to 10 at Akal Academy Chak Desraj.

Her students see their own dreams reflected in her journey. Through her dedication, she is helping rural children believe that education can change their future.

Pooja Koundal – Breaking Barriers Through Technology

Coming from a small village in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, Pooja Koundal became the first girl in her village to pursue engineering.

Despite financial challenges and limited exposure, she chose to step into the world of technology.

She completed her B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering and is now working as a WordPress Developer with The Kalgidhar Society in New Delhi.

Today, she not only supports her family financially but also contributes to the digital presence of institutions working for rural education.

Her journey proves that girls from remote villages can thrive in technology and innovation when given the right opportunities.

From Students to Nation Builders

The journeys of Archna, Akanksha Thakur, and Pooja Koundal represent a powerful transformation:

From uncertainty to stability.
From financial struggle to financial independence.
From learners to contributors.

Their stories demonstrate how education does more than build careers — it builds confidence, dignity, and leadership.

The True Meaning of “Give to Gain”

The theme Give to Gain beautifully captures the cycle of empowerment.

When society gives a girl access to education, she gains knowledge and confidence.

And in return, she gives back far more — by supporting her family, uplifting her community, and inspiring the next generation.

This Women’s Day, their journeys remind us that empowering one girl can transform countless lives.
