Where There’s a Will, There’s a Way – A Lesson Truly Lived
Every child that goes to school learns the quote “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”
But in reality, how many of us actually put it to use? Can somebody make his or her life a ritual founded on this belief?
Learning has different motives for different individuals. Those letters written in black ink can become the passage to one’s ultimate goal in life. To such a person, every minute is vital for growth.
Empowering Rural Women – A Noble Vision
Akal Institute of Rural Women Empowerment, a social endeavor of The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib, has been transforming lives by providing education and self-reliance to the underprivileged.
Many girls who have passed 10th or 12th are taken in and provided a platform to learn a chance to become teachers in the Akal Academies run by the Trust.
A Girl from Mangewala with a Dream
Baljinder Kaur, from the small village of Mangewala in Punjab, didn’t even know basic English when she joined the program. Her father, a painter who had never been to school, could only support her with hope and faith.
When asked what she wanted to learn, her simple yet powerful answer was “English.”
A surprising choice for many, especially given the conditions of rural schools in India.
The Spark of Determination
Baljinder understood the importance of education deeply and made the most of every opportunity. She not only learned modern-day subjects but also developed a strong spiritual belief in the Almighty.
Her daily prayers and meditation gave her strength to face challenges with courage. She was often seen surrounded by books, constantly reading and learning, even cutting short her sleep to make time for study.
Rising Above All Odds
Her efforts bore fruit. From being the weakest in her class, she rose to become one of the toppers of her batch.
She didn’t just focus on herself Baljinder also helped her fellow students, especially Kamaljeet and Baljeet, with great compassion and patience.
From Shyness to Confidence
A Punjabi girl with a simple folk accent transformed into a confident young woman, fluent in English and filled with a philanthropic spirit.
Her industrious attitude helped her break free from the cocoon of shyness.
To her, life now felt like a magical dream from chulhas, cow dung, and kucha houses to laptops, the internet, and high-rise buildings.
A Bright Future Ahead
Today, Baljinder knows the world around her. She understands the value of hard work and carries a strong ambition.
She is currently pursuing her skill development program in Mohali and is counted among the brightest students in her class.
Still Learning, Still Growing
She continues to read passionately not children’s books anymore, but thicker novels that challenge her intellect.
Her dream of learning English is now fulfilled, and she sails on a new journey toward a brighter destiny.
Baljinder’s story stands as a living testament to the truth that “Where there’s a will, there’s always a way.”
