From Searching to Finding Peace – Navdeep Singh’s Journey to GuruSikhi

A Journey of Dual Heritage

I was born and raised in a family with both Hindu and Sikh traditions. My father followed Hindu customs while my mother came from a Sikh background. Although my father encouraged me to follow Hindu practices, I always felt there was something better to be found.

The Struggles in Canada

After moving to Canada and being on my own without any support, I fell into bad habits, including using drugs and making poor choices. Despite indulging in these activities, there was a deep feeling of emptiness that I couldn’t shake.

A Turning Point – Discovering Gurbani

A significant change came when I bought a used car, which came with a stereo system. Since I couldn’t afford new CDs, I found some Shabad Kirtan CDs at a truck repair shop. I started listening to them every day during my drives, and slowly, my perspective began to shift.

Gradual Transformation – Going to Gurudwara Sahib

Over time, I began visiting the Gurudwara Sahib once a week. Initially, I would take off my earrings and put on my patka, but one day, while sitting in the parking lot of the Gurudwara, I had a moment of realization.

The Decision to Embrace GuruSikhi for Life

That day, I made a decision to not just visit Gurudwara Sahib for a short time, but to embrace the Sikh way of life for the rest of my life. I removed my earrings, put on my patka, and committed to living by GuruSikhi’s teachings.

A Life Transformed by GuruSikhi

Today, I am happier than I have ever been. I even changed my last name to Singh, and I can honestly say that I have found nothing better than GuruSikhi in this world.
