From Village Veranda to the Nation’s Pride – Rural Boy Karandeep Singh of Akal Academy, Gomti scores an All India Rank 30 in NDA

Double Victory, One Purpose

In 2013-14, Karandeep not only cracked the NDA Exam with an impressive AIR 30, but also cleared the TES (Technical Entry Scheme) examination with AIR 74 a route that could have made him an Army Engineer. Yet, with firm resolve, he chose the NDA path to serve the nation as a soldier.

Roots in Rural Resilience

Born into a humble farmer family, Karandeep’s childhood was shaped by the financial hardships that plague much of Rural India. Despite these challenges, his home remained free from alcohol, his diet purely vegetarian, and his life anchored in faith. A baptized Amrit-Dhari Sikh, his discipline in both spirituality and studies set him apart early on.
His father recalls:- “Karan was never the kind of boy to waste time outside. He observed, he analyzed, and he stayed focused on his books.”

Self-Made Scholar

Remarkably, Karandeep never took tuition. His academic growth came purely from school learning, self-study, and his own determination. Apart from studying, his only leisure was indoor cricket and football with his brother.
Even as a child, he had told his father that he will not go into farming and will continue studying to become a big officer and serve the country.

A Principal’s Pride

Mrs. Pawan Sahni, Principal of Akal Academy Gomti, proudly shared that Karandeep has always been a bright student with a passion for studies and co-curricular activities. He had the capability to achieve greatness. This is just the beginning for him.

Marching into the Future

Karandeep is now undergoing a rigorous 3-year NDA training at Kharagwasla, followed by a year at IMA Dehradun. With mobile phones prohibited during training, he could only spare a few minutes to speak but even in that brief call, his voice reflected discipline, purpose, and pride.
His father’s closing words are a reminder to every parent and student that Rural life is tough, but with determination and discipline, our children can rise above any challenge.

Why Karandeep’s Story Inspires

This is not just the story of one boy’s selection into the NDA it’s the story of faith, discipline, and rural grit. Karandeep’s success shatters the myth that only city students can make it to elite institutions. It proves that big dreams can grow even in small verandas.
