I am Harjeet Kaur Sekhon, a proud alumna of Akal Academy, and currently serving as a Senior Resident Dentist at Divya Jyoti Hospital, Modinagar, Delhi. Reflecting on my journey, I owe my success to the solid foundation laid by Akal Academy, which instilled in me not only academic excellence but also spiritual wisdom and life values.
From a Convent School to Akal Academy – A Fortunate Transition
My early schooling began at a convent school in Muktsar, but destiny had greater plans. When my parents decided to transfer me to Akal Academy, Baru Sahib, they were impressed by the discipline and holistic education it offered. Though the idea of leaving home for schooling was unsettling, divine grace smiled upon us with the establishment of a new Akal Academy in Muktsar.
This change introduced me to an exceptional educational experience that shaped my personality and outlook on life.
Holistic Development – The Akal Academy Experience
Akal Academy provided a unique triangular platform encompassing academics, spirituality, and extracurricular activities. It didn’t just focus on classroom learning but fostered all-around development, instilling confidence, communication skills, and a spiritual grounding in its students.
The introduction of Nitnem into our daily routine remains one of the most cherished aspects of my education. The discipline to learn and practice Paath by heart has been a spiritual blessing, especially when I see others struggling to achieve this balance later in life.
Academic Journey – From CPMT to Dentistry Excellence
Post-schooling, I successfully cleared the Combined Pre Medical Test (CPMT) and pursued my Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) from Divya Jyoti Institute of Surgery and Research in 2004. My rigorous training and dedication led to distinctions in all my subjects.
In 2010, I prepared for my Masters, TOEFL, and GMAT in Delhi. Upon completing my advanced education, I was blessed with the opportunity to join Divya Jyoti Hospital as a Senior Dentist, a role I continue to cherish.
A Message to the Community – Empowering Women through Education
I strongly advocate for the education of the girl child and urge families to invest in their daughters’ futures. With the right support and opportunities, girls can excel and contribute significantly to their families and society. Rather than solely focusing on material wealth like land and property, prioritize the intellectual and spiritual growth of your children. My journey from Akal Academy to my current role as a Senior Dentist stands as a testament to the transformative power of holistic education. I am grateful to Akal Academy for shaping my values, discipline, and spiritual grounding, which continue to guide my path.
