A Day That Planted Seeds of Greatness
What happens when tradition meets innovation, when science blends with spirituality, and when leaders speak straight to the hearts of students. A powerful and inspiring session unfolded at Eternal University when Mr. Bal Mukund Sharma, Chairman of the Punjab State Food Commission, and his wife, Prof. Kanchan Sharma, addressed the students with a message that lit up every young soul in the room.
Lessons Beyond the Blackboard
Mr. Bal Mukund Sharma took students down to a memory lane, recounting his days at Punjab Agricultural University. But his stories were more than nostalgia they were blueprints for success. He emphasized the importance of paying attention in class and keeping one’s mind open to new ideas. “Engagement in your studies today is what shapes your opportunities tomorrow,” he shared.
From there, he bridged the gap between local learning and global innovation introducing students to Israel’s cutting-edge, water-saving farming techniques. The message was clear that true education connects classrooms with the world.
From Books to Backyards – The Nutrition Garden Vision
One of the most exciting moments came when Mr. Sharma shared his vision of creating “Nutrition Gardens” in schools green corners filled with Tulsi, Swanajana (Moringa), and other healing plants. These living classrooms would help students reconnect with nature, health, and hands-on science.
“Health is true wealth,” he reminded everyone. “And growing your own herbs teaches both responsibility and healing.”
The Ancient Wisdom on Our Plates
Turning to “food as a gateway to culture and health”, Mr. Sharma passionately spoke about the significance of traditional Indian grains and meals.
He spotlighted Kodra ki Roti, a humble millet bread once enjoyed during the time of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
“It’s more than food,” he explained. “It’s our heritage. And it holds the key to long-term wellness.”
Wisdom with Warmth, from a Graceful Guide
Prof. Kanchan Sharma brought a powerful blend of grace and strength as she addressed the students. With warmth in her words and clarity in her message, she called for an education anchored in discipline, compassion, and spirituality.
“Knowledge without values is like a tree without roots,” is her favorite saying.
She offered her personal mentorship to any student aspiring to lead with heart. Her words lingered in the room and the students’ hearts long after the session ended.
