Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib Receives SDG Action Award from UNDP and Punjab Planning Dept.

Recognition for Promoting Sustainable Development

The Kalgidhar Trust, Baru Sahib has been awarded the prestigious SDG Action Award by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Punjab Planning Department (PPD) on September 28, 2020. This recognition celebrates the Trust’s significant contributions toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in rural education and women empowerment.

Award for Integration and Holistic Solutions

The award was presented to The Kalgidhar Trust in the individual category for its remarkable efforts in promoting integration, convergence, and joint action. The Trust’s focus on providing low-cost, values-based education to approximately 70,000 rural children across North India through 129 schools and two universities was highlighted. Furthermore, the Trust has successfully empowered 2,500 rural girls through skill development and teacher training programs.
