Plunge for Pride: The Singh Who Scuba Dives in a Turban

Breaking Stereotypes with Pride

For Harjinder Singh Kukreja, the turban is not just a symbol of faith but a matter of immense pride. Whether scuba diving in the waters of Turkey or skydiving in the skies of Australia, he never parts with his turban, using his adventures to raise awareness about Sikh identity across the globe.

Scuba Diving in Turkey: A Record-Breaking Feat

During a recent week-long trip to Antalya, Turkey, Harjinder Singh Kukreja made headlines by becoming the first person to scuba dive wearing a turban. Donning a 32-kg scuba helmet over his turban, Kukreja plunged into the underwater world, surrounded by professional divers.

As he walked underwater and hand-fed tropical fish, his unique endeavor caught the attention of the Turkish media. His feat was featured on 12 Turkish TV channels, including CNN Turkey.

Skydiving in Australia: Taking Sikh Identity to New Heights

This isn’t the first time Kukreja has made waves with his daring stunts. In January 2015, during his Australia tour, he took to the skies for a skydiving adventure, proudly sporting his turban. His message was clear: the turban, far from being a hindrance, is a source of strength and identity.

Spreading Awareness and Celebrating Sikh Heritage

Kukreja’s adventurous spirit is matched by his dedication to promoting Sikh culture and heritage. “The turban is my identity and a mark of pride. Sikhs respect all religious headgears, and I want the world to see that it is no barrier to what I want to achieve,” he said.

Beyond his record-setting adventures, Kukreja actively participates in events celebrating Sikh history and contributions worldwide. He has attended the World War I memorial in Belgium and the installation of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s bust in St. Tropez, France, proudly representing the Sikh community.

A Global Ambassador for Sikhism

Harjinder Singh Kukreja’s efforts go beyond personal achievements; they aim to further the pristine glory and heritage of Sikhs. Through his unique feats, he continues to inspire and educate people across cultures about the values and traditions of Sikhism.

Kukreja’s journey is a testament to how one individual can use passion and creativity to break stereotypes, promote understanding, and celebrate identity on a global stage.
