Preserving Culture – Akal University Marks International Mother Language Day

Special Lecture on the Importance of Mother Language

On February 20, 2017, Akal University organized a special lecture titled “Importance of Mother Language” by Prof. Rajinderpal Singh Brar, Dean Colleges, Punjabi University, Patiala. The event was presided over by Prof. Gurmail Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Akal University.

Role of Punjabi in Cultural Preservation

During the lecture, Prof. Brar highlighted the significance of Punjabi as a mother language in the contemporary era. He emphasized that embracing one’s native language fosters a sense of pride and helps prevent its decline. A community’s positive attitude towards its language plays a crucial role in its survival.

Mother Languages as Cultural and Heritage Tools

Prof. Brar also stressed that languages serve as powerful tools for preserving and developing cultural heritage. The promotion of mother tongues not only encourages linguistic diversity but also strengthens global solidarity, tolerance, and peace.
