In the first part of this series, we explored how Sant Teja Singh Ji, a saint-scholar of the modern era, bridged the gap between science and spirituality at the World Congress of Religions for World Peace, Japan, 1956. His message of Ik Onkar — Oneness of the Divine captivated the world with its depth and universality.
In this second part, we dive deeper into his profound spiritual discourse — a timeless message that highlights how the realization of God is not confined to any religion but is a living experience accessible to all sincere seekers.
Guru Arjan Dev Ji – Pioneer of Spiritual Equality
Sant Ji emphasized how the foundation for a World Religion of Oneness was already laid centuries ago by Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the compiler of the Guru Granth Sahib.
Guru Arjan Dev Ji not only brought together the hymns of Sikh Gurus but also included the sacred voices of saints from different religions — Hindus, Muslims, low castes, high castes — united by the love for the Divine.
This was the first-ever global spiritual declaration that God-realization transcends caste, creed, race, or religion.
The Scientific Journey of God-Realization
Sant Teja Singh Ji described the spiritual path as a scientific journey — a real, fixed, and achievable state of consciousness.
Challenges on the Spiritual Path:
- Pride from fame and success can derail a seeker.
- Attraction to occult powers (Ridhi-Sidhi) can become a trap.
- If one uses spiritual powers for personal gain, progress halts.
Keys to Progress:
- Stay humble.
- Use blessings for selfless service.
- Focus on Naam Simran and righteous living.
When the seeker overcomes these, the universe reveals its secrets, and the seeker merges with the One-in-All and All-in-One.
Voices of the Saints – Proof of Oneness Across Religions
Sant Ji beautifully quoted seven great Bhagats and Sufi saints, whose journeys prove that God is beyond rituals — He lives within.
Bhagats – The Revolutionaries of Spiritual Equality
- Bhagat Ramanand broke the barriers of caste and opened the doors of spirituality to all, including Kabir and Ravidas.
- Bhagat Kabir, born to a Muslim family but deeply connected with Hindu and Sufi traditions, spoke of the oneness of humanity and condemned religious hypocrisy.
- Bhagat Namdev, a humble printer and washerman from Maharashtra, saw the Divine pervading every particle of the universe.
These saints didn’t just preach; they lived the truth that God is not found in rituals but through inner realization.
Sufi Saints – The Embodiment of Divine Love
- Sheikh Farid, a revered Muslim mystic, taught that hurting any heart is hurting God Himself. His poetry emphasizes humility, compassion, and remembrance of the Divine (Zikr).
- Bhagat Bhikhan, another Sufi saint, echoed that the experience of God is sweet beyond words, attainable only through deep meditation and the grace of the Divine.
Sufi saints stressed love, surrender, and the annihilation of ego (Fana) as the way to meet the Beloved — the same essence taught in Sikhism as Naam Simran and humility.
Bhagats from Every Walk of Life
- Bhagat Ravidas, a cobbler, rose to spiritual heights, declaring that the Begampura (city without sorrow) is the home of the realized soul.
- Raja Pipa, a king who renounced his throne, realized that God is not in idols but within one’s own heart.
These lives demolish every barrier society ever created — proving that God belongs to all who seek sincerely.
The Universal Message – God Is Within All
Sant Teja Singh Ji’s speech powerfully concluded that every honest seeker — whether Hindu, Muslim, low caste, king, or commoner — ultimately discovers the same truth: The Divine lives within.
“When the seeker sincerely meditates on Naam and lives righteously, caste, creed, and religion dissolve. What remains is pure Oneness — Ik Onkar.”
A Timeless Blueprint for Humanity
This isn’t just a message for the past — it’s a blueprint for modern humanity.
In a world divided by religion, race, and boundaries, Sant Teja Singh Ji’s voice echoes louder than ever:
“Realize the God within. Drop all divisions. Serve humanity. Meditate on Naam. This is the path to peace — for yourself and for the world.”
