Six students of Akal College of Nursing, Baru Sahib selected in Military Nursing as Lieutenants

A Historic Achievement in Military Nursing

India’s military, one of the largest in the world, has seen an inspiring rise in women officers since 1992 when the Army expanded roles for women beyond medical and educational fields. Today, the Military Nursing Service (MNS) stands as one of the most prestigious branches, ensuring the well-being of army personnel.

In a proud moment for Himachal Pradesh, six students from Akal College of Nursing, Eternal University, Baru Sahib, have been selected as Military Nursing Officers with the rank of Lieutenant. This is the highest number of selections ever from the state, and all from the same institution.

The Akal College of Nursing Edge

Founded in 2008, Akal College of Nursing offers B.Sc. and M.Sc. Nursing programs in a serene and disciplined environment. The selected students credit their success to the high standards of education, disciplined training, and mentorship provided at the institution.

“Whatever I am today, I owe it to the mentorship I received from the dedicated faculty of Akal College of Nursing. I shall remain indebted to my institution for the high standards it endowed me with,” shared Shivani, one of the newly commissioned officers.

The Path to Military Excellence

The selection process was rigorous, involving a written exam, an interview, and a medical examination at the national level. Among the success stories is Kanchan Thakur, who excelled in the SSC MNS test in 2016 and is now posted in Pune, Maharashtra.

She emphasizes the role of Akal College of Nursing in her success:

“Akal College of Nursing is a disciplined institute that provides exceptional education and holistic development. The brilliant faculty ensures students receive the knowledge, skills, and values essential for success.”

Inspiring Future Generations

This achievement highlights the unwavering commitment of the faculty and management at Akal College of Nursing, which consistently nurtures students to excel in all areas, including national-level Army selections. These young officers embody the spirit, courage, and dedication required to excel in military nursing, serving as an inspiration for other aspiring women.
