The Learning Bazaar – When a Mock Market Became a Real-Life Classroom at Akal Academy, Kajri

Real Markets, Real Learning

On 26th December 2015, students of Std. VI stepped into a whole new world through the Mock Market activity a hands-on role-play experience where learning met living. Donning the hats of salesmen, hawkers, vegetable vendors, and shopkeepers, children brought real-world concepts out of the textbook and into tangible, teachable moments.

Crafted with Creativity, Run with Responsibility

Initiated by the spirited Atul House, students began by setting up shop with colorful signboards and detailed price lists. They decorated their stalls with creativity and excitement. With their class teachers Mrs. Ranjit Kaur, Mr. Vattan Preet Singh, and Mrs. Savita guiding the process, the young entrepreneurs quickly turned the school lawn into a mini market, buzzing with energy and authenticity.

Life Skills in Action

Mr. Ashok Singh Guleria enriched the experience by discussing key concepts such as MRP, warranty vs. guarantee, bargaining, and consumer rights. His interactive session helped students grasp terms they’d now recognize the next time they visit a real store.

Where Learning Met Life

Beyond academic knowledge, the mock market provided powerful lessons in confidence, communication, persuasion, and decision-making. It taught children how to navigate transactions, read labels, question quality, and most importantly, become informed consumers.

Voices of Encouragement

Principal Mrs. Simran Kaur Thind praised the initiative and highlighted its relevance that
Activities like these teach them transformation. These are the experiences students will remember and apply throughout life. I encourage each of you to use what you learned today in the real world.

The Team Behind the Magic

Special thanks to the dedicated mentors who helped make this event a true success is
Ms. Anshul Bhardwaj (Atul House Master), Mrs. Kanchan Mishra, Mrs. Kanak Tripathi (SST HOD), Mr. VijayPal Singh (HOD Science), and Mr. Phillip Xavier (Media Coordinator).

A Marketplace of Minds

The Mock Market was more than a school activity it was a mirror to society and a rehearsal for real life. It reflected the school’s belief that education is not just about what’s taught but about what’s experienced.

Lesson of the Day

To every student – Step out, speak up, sell smart, and shop wise because the best classrooms are the ones we live in.
