Growing up in Khutar, a small village in Uttar Pradesh, Anupriya Kaur dreamed big. Today, she is pursuing a Ph.D. in Plant Science at the prestigious University of Zurich, Switzerland, turning her aspirations into achievements.
The Foundation of Success – Akal Academy
Anupriya’s journey began in 2001 when she joined Akal Academy Kajri. Impressed by the school’s value-based education system, she gained both academic knowledge and deep insights into Sikhism and moral values. After excelling in her 10th grade, she transitioned to Akal Academy Baru Sahib, a place she fondly recalls as the “Valley of Divine Peace.”
Divinity classes by Er. Amarjeet Singh and the serene environment of Baru Sahib played a transformative role in her life. Though initially expected to pursue MBBS, the guidance of Dr. Davinder Singh inspired her to explore the field of Biotechnology—a decision that became the turning point of her career.
Academic Achievements
Anupriya completed her Bachelor’s in Biotechnology at GGDSD College, Punjab University, followed by a Master’s at Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, specializing in Biotechnology and Plant Breeding & Genetics. Her dedication earned her a Gold Medal for topping her Master’s program and an award for the best thesis.
Her exceptional performance led to a role as a Research Fellow in an international project, “Sample Sequencing of Wheat Chromosome 2A-IWGC,” at Punjab Agricultural University.
Realizing Her Dream – Ph.D. in Switzerland
With unwavering determination, Anupriya applied for a Ph.D. program in Plant Science at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. Out of 100 candidates, she secured admission with a full scholarship—a testament to her hard work and perseverance.
A Beacon of Inspiration
Anupriya’s journey is a powerful narrative of resilience and ambition. Coming from a lower-middle-class background, she overcame challenges with the unwavering support of her parents and the holistic education provided by Akal Academy under the Kalgidhar Society.
