Shivinder Singh, an alumnus of Akal Academy Bhadaur, proudly serves as a Lieutenant in the Indian Army. His journey from a young dreamer inspired by the Kargil War to achieving his goal is a testament to dedication, discipline, and the values instilled by his alma mater.
Pursuing a Dream
Shivinder’s aspiration to serve the nation began during the Kargil War in 1999, which deeply inspired him. By the time he reached 8th grade, he had firmly decided to join the armed forces. Today, he is living his dream, proudly serving in Sikkim as a Lieutenant after completing 1.5 years of rigorous training at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) from January 2013 to June 2014.
Family and Community Support
Coming from a working-class family, Shivinder’s journey has been a source of pride for his parents, his village, and the community. With a father employed as an engineer at a thermal power plant, the expectations were high, but Shivinder met them with determination and the blessings of the Almighty.
A Strong Foundation at Akal Academy
Shivinder credits Akal Academy Bhadaur and the Kalgidhar Trust Baru Sahib for shaping his personality and career. The education provided by the school—combined with discipline, spirituality, and a supportive faculty—played a vital role in his success. He fondly remembers Principal Kamalpreet Kaur Ji and all his teachers during his +2 years as exceptionally brilliant mentors.
Spiritual and Academic Growth
The spiritual practices and discipline at Akal Academy left a lasting impact on Shivinder. He believes the teachings of Paath and Gurbani, coupled with the structured curriculum, guided him through life and prepared him for the challenges of serving in the Army.
Pride in Heritage and Faith
Shivinder appreciates how Akal Academy nurtured his connection to Sikh heritage and Dharam. He feels proud to represent his faith and values in the real world, thanks to the strong foundation laid during his school years.
Message of Gratitude and Encouragement
Shivinder is inspired by the Kalgidhar Trust’s mission of transforming rural India through modern Gurukuls. He encourages them to continue their noble work and extends his heartfelt gratitude to the institution that helped him achieve his dreams.
Gur-Fateh!
Regards,
Shivinder Singh
