The Spiritual Journey of Sant Attar Singh – Meditation at Hazur Sahib, Rishikesh, and Haridwar

The Divine Journey of a Spiritual Luminary

Sant Attar Singh Ji, an enlightened saint, lived a life far beyond the reach of ordinary mortals. His journey, as narrated by Sant Teja Singh Ji, carries unparalleled authenticity and serves as an inspiring testament to unwavering devotion and spirituality.

Resignation from the Army – A Leap Towards Divine Immersion

After leaving his military service, Sant Attar Singh Ji embarked on a profound spiritual journey to immerse himself in the Divine Realm. Walking on foot from Dera Ghazi Khan (now in Pakistan) to Hazur Sahib in Maharashtra, he chanted the Divine Name with every step—reciting “Wahe” with his left foot and “Guru” with his right.

Meditation at Hazur Sahib – Two Years of Divine Bliss

At Hazur Sahib, Sant Ji meditated on the banks of the river Godavari for two years. So deeply engrossed in the Divine Name, he often went weeks without food, relying only on water from the Godavari. He accepted food only when it was offered to him and remained entirely detached from worldly needs.

Journey to Haridwar and Rishikesh – A Year in the Forests

From Hazur Sahib, Sant Attar Singh Ji continued his spiritual march to Haridwar and Rishikesh. In the dense forests of Rishikesh, near a serene fountain, he entered a trance-like state (Samadhi), meditating for almost a year. Despite the presence of wild animals visiting the fountain at night, Sant Ji remained undeterred, immersed in his divine pursuit.

Seeking Solitude – Meditative Travels Across Holy Lands

While at Rishikesh, Sant Ji expressed his desire to meditate in a quiet and secluded place. Sant Ram Singh of Thamali guided him to hermitages in Sialkot and Rawalpindi (now in Pakistan). Together, they traveled through Himachal Pradesh, visiting places like Dehradun, Paonta Sahib, Baru, Kumharhatti, Anandpur Sahib, Una, and Gurdaspur before reaching Sialkot. Along the way, they paid obeisance at revered shrines, including Paonta Sahib and Anandpur Sahib.

The Unrevealed Baru – A Sacred Place of Meditation

During their journey, Sant Ji meditated at Baru, an almost unknown and serene location. This phase of his life showcases his dedication to finding peace and spiritual enlightenment in the most secluded corners of the country.

An Inspirational Legacy for Youth

The life and journey of Sant Attar Singh Ji inspire individuals to strive for higher virtues and a life of devotion, service, and spirituality. His story encourages the youth to become better human beings by following the path of meditation and righteous living.
