Manmohan Singh applauded Baba Iqbal Singh and the Kalgidhar Society for running Akal Academies, which follow the Gurukul system of education. The organization operates 130 schools across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan.
